The one that we expect to take us to new places. The best animal to ever be born under our watch in Good Hope. We love him. His mom is the very best female that Petzy and I own. She was shown by Max Scamihorn at perrenially the absolute hardest slick doe show in the country and came out on top. Her mom was shown by Raine Garten and won the Kansas State Fair and Kansas Junior Livestock Show (she was also shown slick). Maternal genetics always prevail and 23158 doesn’t have a weak link in the mix! Visually, this is exactly what we hoped to create when we first gave $185,000 for his wildly good sire. Boats’ mom is a flushmate to my favorite wether goat I have ever judged – our goal was to get that blood injected into every animal on our place as quickly as possible. To be able to get that PLUS our most reliable slick shorn lineage at the same time via a goat that we genuinely love to look at is a dream come true. 23158’s parts rarely come together in the same animal. His cage is wider than it is deep, loin is wide, flat, and seamless, and his pin/rump is massive. We hope these have all become necessary selection criteria in today’s day and age. What makes him special to us are the extras that we want to pay attention to – the slope and angle to his shoulder and knee are perfectly relaxed and sound, he is dead level behind his shoulder, and he effortlessly utilizes his big, square back leg. Proportionally, his neck is longer than his shoulder, back length is in between the two, and he smoothly gets progressively wider from every angle. Testicles are large and libido is incredibly strong at 3 months old. Consistency is another area that we want to put at the top of our priority list. All three of his flushmate sisters quickly make the keeper pen visually and their Iconic sired maternal sib is easily our best November born doe kid. Zero throw aways, no mediocre. We plan on using him aggressively to get these physical traits and reliable genetics into as many of our goats as possible – we invite you to do the same!
